David Helfand composes and performs original and traditional music on Celtic Harp, mandocello, guitar, keyboards and percussion. Many of David's compositions were born through improvisation and drawn on the inspiration found in the power of music from many wondrous cultures. Since 2000, David has augmented his repertoire of original and traditional compositions with Israeli and Middle Eastern influenced music and has composed many pieces based upon his journeys to Israel and Britain. David Helfand and violist, Justin Lader are overjoyed to return for their second performance at the Oregon Jewish Museum, Sunday, Nov 11th at 2:00 p.m.
On the heels of their first Summer Northern California tour, David and Justin bring their music into the new year and the Fall celebrating new beginnings.
Music featured will be David's piece " First Light " that was inspired by an incredible Israeli sunset, music from his album " Beyond the Sea of Reeds," fervent Middle Eastern inspired melodies, glorious pieces from Shlomo Carlebach, favorites played at Temple Beth Israel in Eugene and a very special solo viola performance of Niggun's from the Polish composer, Rachel Knobler.
Travel to the far corners of the Jewish world on a journey with Celtic harp, mandocello, guitar and viola.
